So excited to let you know that Katrina’s Son was awarded Best Texas Film and The Audience Choice Award at this year’s Texas Black Film Festival. The audience award means so much, because the people spoke, and out of all the docs, shorts and features that they watched, they chose Katrina’s Son as the best. When we made this film, I honestly didn’t know what would come of it, but it’s great to see it continue to pick up steam and touch people’s hearts.

Next…Mississippi and then Toronto.

Katrina’s Son will screen twice during the festival. I’ll definitely be at the Thursday screening, don’t know about the Wednesday one. Anyway, if you’re in town come check it out!

The Story
A family is torn apart from one another and their religion when they discover that their pastor has been sexually abusing their teenage son for years. Although they are scarred from this betrayal, they ultimately come back a stronger family and spiritual unit. The film deals with issues of religion, faith, spirituality, sexuality and forgiveness.
